Lynette Procter

I'm Lynette, a person-centred counsellor and ADHD coach working from my private practice in Woodlesford, Leeds. I offer a compassionate and understanding approach grounded in empathy and acceptance providing a warm, safe haven for self-exploration.

My journey to becoming a counsellor started many years ago when I personally experienced positive changes in myself that occurred through talking openly with a person who listened to me without judgement.  This inspired me to undertake the training required to become a counsellor myself, so that others could experience the powerful gift and benefits of being truly seen and heard.

Alongside my counselling work, I also offer ADHD-informed coaching. This is important to me both professionally and personally, having received my own late AuDHD diagnosis and understanding how confusing and overwhelming life can feel without the right support. ADHD coaching offers a more practical, strengths-based approach, helping clients develop understanding, confidence, and strategies that work with their unique way of thinking. My approach is open, honest, and neurodivergent-friendly, and I am passionate about supporting clients to feel empowered, understood, and more able to navigate everyday life in a way that feels right for them.

I work with clients experiencing a wide range of issues and difficulties, with a strong focus on ADHD and the impact it can have on individuals and their loved ones.

I am deeply committed to providing empathetic and non-judgemental support to those navigating the varied challenges that can come with ADHD. I recognise both the struggles and the unique strengths associated with neurodivergence and aim to create a safe and understanding space where clients feel safe and able to explore their experiences and goals.

My passion for supporting those with ADHD also comes from personal experience, and the many years of struggling with thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that I did not fully understand. This allows me to bring both professional insight and genuine empathy to my work, helping clients feel validated and supported as they navigate their own life experience, whether diagnosed or not.

Addiction and ADHD are often complex and interconnected, and I work closely with each client to understand the deeper factors that influence their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours particularly around substance/alcohol misuse.

My aim is to be a supportive ally on your counselling or coaching journey, helping you navigate challenges with empathy and encouragement, and supporting you to build a strong foundation for lasting, positive change. I also understand the impact addiction can have on family and loved ones, having lived experience from both perspectives, which further strengthens my commitment to supporting others on their path towards healing and recovery.

I strongly believe that with the right support, you can find the inner strength and resilience needed to grow, heal, and create meaningful, lasting change. If you are looking for support for yourself or a loved one, I’m here to help. Please reach out, and we can take the next steps together.

To ensure the highest standard of care, I engage in regular supervision with an experienced counselling supervisor. This practice allows me to maintain a healthy and professional approach to my work. Additionally, I actively seek ongoing professional development opportunities such as workshops and training courses to enhance my skills and knowledge.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their ethical framework and regulations, ensuring that our work together is conducted with integrity and professionalism. I also hold full professional indemnity insurance, and hold a clear, fully comprehensive DBS barring service check for your peace of mind.
